If, like many people, you feel somewhat intimidated by technology, and by people trying to sell you technology (who often make you feel like a dullard), then read on reader. We are going to take a close inspection of two of the finest wireless printers out there, to help you decide exactly what you need.

Samsung SCX-4623FW 4-in-1 Wireless Mono Laser Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax
This delightful box of tricks is a compact wireless, mono multifunction 4 in 1 printer/copier/scanner/fax machine, allowing you to operate a home office with one machine. The WPS button gives you wireless access to any network you want. The SCX-4623FW is also DLNA enabled, and even has built-in AnyWeb software, letting you crop and edit web pages as you like. Soft power functionality comes as standard, so you can reduce your energy consumption, giving you a warm green glow as you do. Other functions include:

USB 2.0, Ethernet 10/100 Base TX and Wireless 802.11b/g/n connectivity

WPS Button for one touch wireless setup

30% Toner Save Mode to reduce printing costs

250 Sheet paper capacity

256MB Memory

Hewlett Packard D3050 Multifunctional Inkjet
A solid, sturdy, dependable reliable printer that won’t cost the earth, the HP D3050 is perfect for anyone who wants a straightforward set up with minimal fuss – and it is ridiculously easy to unpack and start using. It is, as the name suggests, a multifunctional printer, able to copy documents without the need for a PC at all. Copy quality is very high, at 20ppm in black, or 16ppm in colour. The D3050 also comes with a useful ‘low ink’-dicator letting you know exactly when you’re about to run out of ink – saving you time and sparing you irritation in the process. It also has a ‘quick cancel’ button so you no longer need to waste paper and ink if you’ve clicked ‘print’ a bit too hastily. The DS304050 is designed for those looking for an easy-to-operate printer/scanner/copier combo, with minimal set-up time. And at just £39.99 from Ryman, it’s a total bargain.

Check the Ryman website for more excellent value wireless printers than you can shake a USB stick at.

There is something very reliable about Kodak. Good quality and easily available on the high street, they offer everything for your home and office delectation. The ESP C110 printer 3 in 1 is no exception. These are great little printers and not too imposing in the home-office environment as can be experienced with the larger tower laser printers. The printer is well made, very affordable and has a sturdy construction.

It prints quickly and the quality is excellent for the home user. It has a colour LCD screen and a memory card slot for Memory sticks, SD cards or MMC cards, making image uploads a piece of cake and the 1.5 inch LCD screen makes using it very easy indeed to preview images. I’ve used it to print pictures which have so far included wildlife and mountainous terrain and in both these areas the print quality has been excellent with sharply defined object edges and using it for the run of the mill text documents I’ve not seen any issues as every piece of home work has printed perfectly.

The printer also passed the ultimate printer test: people photographs. The quality of the pictures I printed of various friends of mine was really good, not at all pixelated or with ungainly colour runs. Facial features were kept sharp, exact and defined. It’s really easy to use with only a small number of buttons to master. The printer has a few other mentionable benefits, including the fact that it can scan multiple pictures simultaneously – with one-touch print functionality. The printer’s software automatically creates separate files for these to be sorted into which saves you the time and effort of doing so. This software is great for making pictures easy to find and view, as it sorts them by month, day and year.

From a practical printing perspective, the rear feed paper tray holds 100 sheets of document paper and 20 sheets of good quality photographic paper. The printer can also connect to your PC via USB cable by the port at the back. However, you don’t have to connect the printer to the PC to see your pictures. So, in summary, I think this printer is easy to use, pretty cheap and affordable but and it’s a small but the small screen could be better. The only other piece of functionality which would benefit this printer would be Wi-Fi connectivity but you only get that with the more expensive C310 model, so the option is yours.”

Rеgаrdless of cost, it’s importаnt to undеrstаnd thаt аccessoriеs cаn bеcomе “nеcessitiеs,” аnd thаt thе bеst timе to gеt thеm is thе momеnt you buy а nеw computer.

Free Laptops with Mobile Broadband – Hottest deals but avoid laptop thigh syndrome

From pricing point of view, there is very little differences between price of a laptop computer on the high street and a laptop computer online. PC retailers on the High Street boast that their prices are as low as you can get from online computer deal, online retailer promise to give you online prices with High Street shopping experience. The consumer benefits from this price war and competition between traditional retailer and their much newer online competition.

One of the products where you find absolutely no differences between online and offline retailers is in the retail of Free laptops. The main reason for this is that the laptops are not free per Se because you have to take it with a bundle, usually mobile broadband or a high end smarphone. This kind of offer is becoming increasingly popular because you do not have to fork our several hundreds of pounds like you have to if you buy a laptop off the shelve outright, you can just take the bundle and pay a monthly installments payment.

One of the best destinations online when you are looking for mobile broadband deals is the website called broadband expert, as their name indicated, they specialist in providing advice and information on broadband and naturally PCs and laptop computers.

The affordability brought into the laptop market through the broadband deals has made laptop and its cousins the notebooks extremely affordable and very popular with both children and adult. Having a laptop instead of a desktop computer makes working in limited space easy and carrying data and information from home to work or school even easier not to talk of playing games in your free time.

Laptops and your health

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. After a long hard days work on your laptop, relaxing by playing your favourite game can be relaxing. One important caveat about using laptops is that you must not place it on your lap for too long despite the fact that its actually called a laptop.

The reason you should not place a laptop on your lap for too long ranges from strain to your posture to actually damage to the skin on your lap because of CPU extractor fan blowing hot air into your laps.

The journal Pediatrics reported the case of a 12-year-old who developed discoloured skin after playing games for hours on the laptop, developing a condition called erythema ab igne, which used to be common in people exposed to heat as part of their work, such as bakers, silversmiths and construction workers.

Once you acquire you free laptop with or without a broadband deal, remember not to use it on your lap for extremely prolonged period.

By January 2011, all hard drives must shift from the older 512 bytes blocks to 4K format as an agreement with Idema (International Disk Drive Equipment and Materials Association). Although this change only means good news while producers will deliver more reliable and “greener” hard drives, for Windows XP users might become a problem.

For 30 years, developers format hard drives’ space into blocks sized 512 bytes, this method becoming a standard due to IBM which used it on FDDs. Using this standard was great when hard drives capacities where up to a small amount of megabytes, but lately producers can deliver hardware which seizes 1-2 terabytes and due to this old technology there are is lot of space loss.

Eight times less lost space – that is what producers say moving on to 4K sectors will mean, and also faster, more reliable and less power consuming drives.

Hard drive developers started a promoting campaign for educating people about this move to an advanced standard and to inform about possible conflict problems between this format and older OS like XP.
While Vista, Windows 7, Leopard, X Tiger are all aware about this 4K movement and are prepared to embrace this new technology, Windows XP hit the markets before this decision was taken. Although producers have discovered a method to help XP manage this new standard, performance will take a hit when writing data.

This new drives will simulate that are still using 512 bytes sectors so that when reading data this “trick” will go unobserved, yet when writing data a five milliseconds delay will emerge, producers say.

It is time that will show how this issue will be solved while a lot of Windows XP users are still using this operating system and might encounter problems when this standard will be fully embraced.

But compared with the previous quarter, shipments increased by almost a third, reflecting “seasonal growth” patterns, computer research group Gartner said.

Acer held on to the top spot, with 28.3% market share, followed by Hewlett-Packard, with a 21.5% share.

PC shipments totalled 16.7 million during the three months.

Germany and France saw shipments increase, while the UK saw shipments decline, but at a slower rate.

The PC industry will see a decline of nearly 12% in 2009, analysts predict.

It would be only the second period of negative growth in the industry, after a slump of 3.2% in 2002.

The news follows an announcement that the semiconductor industry saw a 35% drop in sales of computer chips between 2008 and 2009.

However, analysts say the chip industry will weather the global economic storm better and rebound faster than the rest of the technology sector.

“The outside economic situation that we’ve seen deteriorating over the last few quarters is now directly affecting the PC market and we’re going to see growth slump over the next year,” said Ranjit Atwal, principal research analyst at Gartner.

The shift in the health of the market was a sharp one. European PC sales were at 20% in the third quarter of 2008; the fourth quarter saw a dive to just 4%.

In 2009, Gartner predicts, those numbers will plummet into the negative. They say that the global market will see 257 million PCs sold in 2009, a downward slide of 11.9% on 2008.

The market dive that occurred in 2001-2002, Mr Atwal said, was primarily from the corporate side of the market.

This time, both individuals and businesses are predicted to buy less PCs, hanging on to ageing computers for longer as part of general belt-tightening.

“The PC market is much more mature [as compared to 2002], and the PC is relatively more important to consumers,” Mr Atwal said.

“But nevertheless, it’s still a luxury item, it hasn’t gone all the way

“That means if your PC slows down, doesn’t work well, doesn’t do what you think it should do, you’ll live with it.”

Some facets of the PC industry are clearly on the up – such as mini-laptops and netbooks, which are projected to ship 80% more units in 2009 than 2008.

However, with just 8% of the overall market share they can’t make up for the slide of the PC industry as a whole.

Weather storm

The semiconductor industry is also facing negative growth: from the third to fourth quarters of 2008, the industry slumped by nearly a quarter.
